South West volunteers celebrate national Goalden Globe success

Following on from the Netball South West Regional Goalden Globes and Team Bath end of season celebrations held in May our fantastic regional winners were put forward for the National Goalden Globe Awards. These were held on 17th September at a glittering ceremony in Worcester. Netball South West are delighted that there were five national winners from the South West region gaining recognition for huge the volunteer workforce we are fortunate enough to have.

It was a joint-celebration when the Outstanding Netball Club Award was announced. The teams from Reckit Benekiser in Yorkshire and Hucclecote in Gloucestershire both took home the trophy for their incredible work in their respective areas. Hucclecote is a club which caters for all ages and abilities and is constantly striving to develop and offer additional playing opportunities.

Tracy Watt from Wiltshire collected the Grassroots Coach Award for her excellent work at all levels from grassroots to performance, adults and children. Tracy is a dedicated and well respected coach who has had a positive impact on so many players, ensuring they have a positive experience in netball.

Next up was the Grassroots Officials Award with Sarah Weston picking up the trophy following her great work to tirelessly introduce and update systems which improve umpiring standards within Avon.

The Mary Bulloch Administrator Award was won by Linda Dyer, Netball South West board member. A volunteering career dedicated to running and organising leagues in the south-west. Linda coordinates various workshops as well as the NSW Games Conference.

Hollie Wright from Somerset picked up the Muriel McNally Grassroots Award. Since 14, when she became part of the Yeovil Netball Club Junior Coaching Team, she has been coaching at the club. Hollie has also undertaken a variety of roles including Treasurer, Marketing Assistant and now Chair.

Karen Jones, chair of Netball South West said ‘we know we have fantastic volunteers within the region so we are delighted to see them recognised on a national level. Volunteers are crucial to making netball happen at all levels so we are incredibly grateful for the work they have done’
