Cornwall’s Newest Club Receive Warm Welcome From Netball Community

Crofty NC have recently become Cornwall’s newest club and have found the journey to be a warm and welcoming one. The ladies had attended a Back to Netball programme and were keen to continue to play together so carried on meeting weekly at a local primary school during the summer, with a view to get everything in place to register as a new club at the start of the winter season.

Since going it alone, they have been supported by the County Netball Association and County Netball Development Officer. Their sessions have been regularly well attended and the group have gone from strength to strength. Crofty NC are now an affiliated club, have recently entered a team in Cornwall’s Social League and have also attracted interest from the local netballing community.

Having just updated their club kit, Falmouth NC were keen to put their previous match wear to good use so they kindly donated it to Crofty. Jo Curnow was delighted to receive the offer of kit saying that they were ”very excited! It’ll really help us feel like a team”. Rowan Blewett, represented Falmouth NC in hand delivering the dresses and bibs to Crofty NC and noted that the club were “really pleased to be able to help a local start up club and provide them with one less thing to think about”. Jo confirmed that the club had also received an equipment donation from former club, Hayle NC. She added that “it’s really showing us the best side of the Cornish Netball community. Such a feel good story so far!”.

Crofty continue to get together weekly and look forward to their first league match at the start of January.
