Active Devon Young Volunteer Award Winner – Amelie!
Leave a CommentSouth West Member Amelie recently won the Active Devon Young Volunteer Award, Congratulations Amelie, such a huge and amazing achievement!
We wanted to know more about Amelie’s journey so asked her a few questions!
How long have you been playing for Tiverton Titans?
I joined Tiverton Titans in 2021 when the club was first started. I originally played for our U14 team in the Exeter junior league before I was selected for the Titans regional squad. I am now in my 3rd season playing in the regional league and currently play for Titans Meteors in Division 1 of the North Devon league. I have continued to volunteer with Tiverton Titans alongside my own playing. Tiverton Titans has given me the opportunity to develop to where I am today. I have continued to volunteer and help the younger players so they can have the same opportunities as I got. It’s one way I wanted to give back to the club.
How long have you been volunteering for Tiverton Titans?
I started volunteering not long after I joined the club, at first because I was doing my Duke of Edinburgh award but then I went on to do my Into officiating award and started umpiring at the junior league as well assisting with coaching at the club.
Whilst volunteering what is your biggest achievement to date?
Being shortlisted for a SW One award and winning the Active Devon Young Volunteer Award
What do you love about volunteering?
Helping younger players develop their skills and hopefully being a role model to other girls to continue playing sport
What do you love about netball?
I love the buzz I get when playing and being part of a team. My confidence has really grown since being involved in Netball and I’ve gained so many more skills that just on court.
What top tips would you give to other young people looking to get into volunteering?
Don’t be afraid to give new things a go and take opportunities when they’re offered.
Congratulations Amelie, you have a very bright netball future ahead of you!
