Each week we bring you a good news story from across the South West as part of our wedNEWSday articles.
Bradley Stoke Netball Club raised £525 for charity by organising a Music Quiz Night at Channings Hotel in Clifton. Members were joined by family and friends to form teams and go head-to-head for a fun night of quizzing and testing their music knowledge. They also received many generous donations to put towards a raffle on the night.
Members of the netball club voted for the charity that they’d like to donate the money towards, and they decided to select Talk Club, a talking and listening club for men, offering talking groups, sports groups and therapy to help keep men mentally fit.
The Club were recently joined by Gavin Thorpe, one of the co-founders of Talk Club, to receive the donation and to recognise the amazing amount of money raised from this event. Gavin spoke about the how the charity works to create a men’s community by starting up conversations with someone who is perhaps struggling or who may want to talk. It’s a simple medicine that starts with asking – How are you? Out of 10? They currently have 14 groups running in Bristol.
Gavin also gave the players a badge each that says “How are you out of 10?”. Try this with your friends, colleagues and families today.
