Each week we bring you a good news story from across the South West as part of our wedNEWSday articles.
On Sunday 4th December South Devon Tennis Centre in Ivybridge, Devon hosted the 2nd South West Walking Netball Festival of the year. 9 teams from Cornwall, Devon and Somerset competed in matches in 2 categories, ‘in it to win it’ and ‘just for fun’.
Supported by Netball South West the festivals are a fabulous experience with everything organised for you so all you have to do is turn up, play and enjoy.
Wonford Wanderers won the ‘just for fun’ section after pipping Lanivet Pandas Strollers to the post on goal average. The Pandas, who came 2nd, clearly won the best dressed team award with their matching panda blazers!
In the ‘In it to win it’ group Yeovil came out winners once again despite a close result against runners-up Plymouth Warriors and a draw with Okehampton Jets.
Aside from the netball everyone enjoyed the day with groups having the opportunity to meet other walking netballers and socialise with like minded women. We now have it on good authority that many of the groups have already arranged to visit each other for friendlies.
Netball South West are really looking forward to hosting the next event on 5th March at Dorcan Leisure Centre, Swindon. Please note, booking for the festival in Swindon closes on Friday 24th February.

After you have registered you will receive an email with details on how to pay by BACS and a team sheet to complete and send back to confirm your space. Your team space isn’t secured until payment has been made.
