Into officiating award (Teacher orientation workshop)

Completion of this course will enable teachers to deliver the ‘Into officiating award’ to students within the school curriculum (minimum six hour delivery during lesson time or in after school sessions)
Workshop participant criteria: Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) with PE qualification or QTS with knowledge of netball
Once delivered by Teachers, the Into officiating course, aimed at 13-18 year olds, will:
- Improve the learners understanding of the game of netball
- Enable students to gain generic umpiring skills
- Provide basic knowledge to undertake umpiring at netball matches
- Raise the learners self-esteem and confidence in umpiring netball
- Develop team work and communication skills
- Develop responsibility for self and others
Outcomes – participants of the Orientation workshop will:
- Gain an understanding of the fundamental skills of umpiring
- Be conversant with the competencies and how to use them as a means of standardisation
- Be able to use the Tutor guidance notes in conjunction with candidate resource booklet and rule book (cost of student pack – £10 each)
Please note – there will also be a practical assessment which forms part of the award. This qualification is replacing the previous Youth Umpire Award and Beginner umpire award.
