The top 4 clubs in a Division 1 were playing off for an opportunity to proceed to the National Finals in Redbridge on 4th & 5th May.
There were some amazing matches and it was the final matches which produced the most exciting finales. The 3rd and 4th play-off saw the lead change from one quarter to the next but it was TTNC Aztec who clinched the win over West Exe in the last quarter 34-31.
The 1st and 2nd play-off was equally exciting in the opening half with Bath Cougars holding Hucclecote Dragons to an 11-11 all draw in the first quarter and a narrow gap at half time. As the game progressed Hucclecote demonstrated their class under pressure and gradually took control winning and becoming Division 1 League Champions 36-20.
Hucclecote and Bath Cougars Will now represent the South West at National Finals. For Hucclecote this is one of many visits and for Bath Cougars a first time experience.
The U16 Division 2 Leagues was split into North and South this season and the play-offs saw the top two teams from each division come to compete in the Regional Finals and experience a central venue environment.
The final game of the day proved to be the decider with Challengers Flares from the North beating North Dorset, also from the North Division, 36-27, with Plymouth Firebirds attaining 3rd place and Taunton coming 4th.
A massive thanks to the umpires on the day and to Linda Dyer for all her organisation for the day and the whole season.
The South West wish the best of luck to both teams heading to the National Finals!
