Each week we bring you a good news story from across the South West as part of our wedNEWSday articles.
This week we have another birthday special, this time two Wiltshire netballers, Sylv Bond and Val Holborow, celebrated their 88th Birthdays on 23rd and 30th March respectively.
Sylv and Val attended primary school together and even sat at the same desk! Although they joined different netball clubs they have remained great friends and speak to each other on the phone every day.
They both played netball for Wiltshire and, once her playing career was over, Val coached the Wiltshire Senior team. Sylv and Val are still involved with their clubs and are very much part of the Swindon Netball Family.
They both attended the launch of Walking Netball at the Haydon Centre, Swindon in January 2016 and despite being 88, Sylv still takes an active part in the Haydon Walking Netball session every week. Health issues prevent Val from participating however she pops in to see everyone on a regular basis.
If you know of someone like Sylv or Val who has made an amazing contribution to netball in the South West, then why not nominate them for a ONE Award today? You can nominate them here.
Nominations close on Monday 8th May.
South West regional ONE Awards event is taking place on Sunday 2nd July at Tortworth Court, Gloucestershire. All nominees will be invited to attend this spectacular day of celebration.
