Anniversary Walking Netball Festival

Last Saturday 103 participants took part in a Walking Netball Festival at Dorcan Domes in Wiltshire.

Six teams entered the festival; two from Swindon, one from Dursley, Weston-Super-Mare, and Highworth, and a combined squad from Reading, Abingdon, Lambourn and Cirencester.

The Festival was won by the 479ers, one of the two Swindon based teams.

Mo Squires, Swindon Netball Development Officer, launched the first weekly Walking Netball session at Dorcan on 11th August 2015 so this Festival was organised to celebrate the second anniversary of Walking Netball in Swindon.

Mo took this opportunity to raise some money for the Brighter Futures Radiotherapy Appeal (Swindonians need to raise £2.9million towards the cost of building a radiotherapy unit in the town), and an incredible £918.40 was raised on the day.

It is hoped this Festival will be an annual event to continue to celebrate the success of Walking Netball in the local area.

Walking Netball is happing every day in and across Swindon, with the except of Saturday. Contact Wiltshire NDO (Emily Harrison) for more information
