Each week we bring you a good news story from across the South West as part of our wedNEWSday articles.
Campus Sport Netball at Bournemouth University is continuing to grow and develop, with more people wanting to join the opportunities available throughout the year. They have something for everyone, regardless of their ability level and they attract a good variety of people, which is brilliant. Everyone is more than welcome to join the Campus Sport Netball Club.
Throughout the sessions there is the opportunity for people to try out their own drills if they wish as well as ask any questions they may have; whether it be about the rules or where they are allowed to go on court depending upon their position. Bournemouth University has two Campus League Netball teams entered into a local league organised by Bournemouth and Poole College. One of the Bournemouth University social teams won the league for the third year running, this is a great achievement for the team and each week they are getting stronger and stronger.
They offer Campus Social Sport sessions for those who are completely new to the sport. These are led by Campus Sport Activators, Student Volunteers, who run the sessions to boost their CV and develop their experience of organising University sport. Between the Social Sport, Club and League strands they are able to offer a variety of opportunities for netball within the Campus Sport programme.
In addition, they have done promotional shoot-out competitions in our Courtyard, which help raise awareness of netball further. This year they are sending a team to the England Netball SHOTS competition in March, which the students always enjoy participating in and playing against other universities. They would like to thank England Netball for their support with the UNO role.
