Each week we bring you a good news story from across the South West as part of our wedNEWSday articles.
During the recent heatwave we ran two Netball Youth Camps (NYC) in Gloucestershire at Rednock School. The record-breaking temperatures this summer did not stop the girls having a fantastic time though, all giving 100% despite the slightly sweaty conditions!
The two days were packed full off skills, drills, team building games and match play, with 30 girls attending across both days. After lunch we had a design a netball competition where the girls put down their netballs for felt tips and bibs for glitter glue!
At the end of the day, the coaches awarded three players a certificate and prize in recognition of fair play, ability and improvement throughout the day. These two camps wrap up the summer NYC season across the region but keep an eye out on the England Netball website for October half term camps in a county near you.
Aged 16 or over and would like to volunteer with Netball South West? The Regional Management Board are looking for a new Youth Lead. As the Youth Lead you will represent young people in netball through listening to them and being their voice on the RMB. Further to this you will champion the importance of developing young leaders, support the co-ordination of a youth group, and work alongside the team to promote opportunities for young people.
