Each week we bring you a good news story from across the South West as part of our WedNEWSday articles.
Dorset based Poole Netball Club said goodbye to a very special person in July, Lil Corani, who has decided after almost 17 years to step away from netball. Lil has been at the heart of Poole NC; she has been an integral part of their growth and all that they have achieved for more than a decade.
The story began with her children, Chloe, and Cherie, who joined Poole Juniors in 2006. Lil kindly offered to help with a little admin which quickly intensified and in no time, she was turning her hand to all kinds of new jobs, helping to transform the Poole NC world.
It’s difficult to summarise or pinpoint exactly what Lil’s role is within Poole NC. Officially she holds the title of Treasurer - an enormous task, however it doesn’t end there. Lil’s dedication to the sport and to the players has seen her brave all weather conditions - every winter, for the last 10 years she has organised the local junior league; she has been fundamental in pulling it together for Dorset and making it the success it is today. Arguably though, it’s the smaller things that make the biggest difference, especially when they all add up. Over the years Lil has been a Safeguarding Officer, a First Aider, a Scorer, a Player, helped with social media, she manages the kit orders and even helps with some coaching!
Lil is an incredible person who has been a loyal and devoted volunteer at Poole Netball Club.
"We absolutely do not underestimate the hole Lil’s absence will leave. I am forever grateful to have shared so many experiences, all the highs and lows with Lil, but most importantly I am so lucky to have met one of my most loyal and trusted friends. Everyone at Poole Netball Club would like to wish Lil a very Happy Retirement, we hope you enjoy your time and thank you for all that you have given. We know you’ll still be supporting us from afar." Hayley Peyman, Poole Netball Club Chair.
