Each week we bring you a good news story from across the South West as part of our wedNEWSday articles.

On Friday 3^rd February, several members of Trailblazer Ladies Walking Netball Club visited Weston General Hospital in Weston-super-Mare to present a cheque for £500 for Macmillan Cancer Support and the Cancer Nurses Amenity Fund. 

The money was raised from the proceeds of a raffle, cake stall and prize draw at their Christmas Walking Netball Festival held at Hutton Moor Leisure Centre, Weston-super-Mare, in December.

The 13 teams who took part (and 5 teams who were unable to attend due to the adverse weather conditions on the day) were extremely generous and Trailblazer Ladies cannot thank them enough for their support. 

The day was filled with great competition with Newport Pioneers winning the Tournament and Taunton Netball as runners up.  Keynsham Roses won the Fun Festival with Chippenham Lasses as runners up, and Bristol Belles Blue team were awarded the Fair Play Trophy.

A huge thank you to the 15 volunteer umpires who kept the games flowing and to all the Trailblazers gang who as usual pulled out all the stops to make it a really enjoyable day.
